Frequently Asked Questions

Do you train non-U.S. citizens?

No.  Our training methodology has it's roots in a shared American history.  As a private company, we reserve the right and enjoy the privilege of only training legal U.S. citizens.

Where is your training site located?

Courses will be conducted in a variety of locations.  Please see the training calendar for specifics relating to the course you plan to attend.

What happens if I need to cancel my training reservation?

Booking a class with us is a commitment on both your part and ours.  When you are unable to train as scheduled, you are denying the opportunity to another student.  Please plan appropriately. In the case of a work or personal emergency, we will allow you to reschedule once (pending availability).

Do you offer course refunds?

Full refunds are only offered if there are 90 days or more before the start date of the  training course(s) the you paid for.  If there are between 60-90 days prior to the start of the course, you can receive a 50% refund.  Any cancellation less than 60 days prior to the start of the course will mean that you receive no refund.

What type of munitions are used during training?

Blank rounds are used for all training exercises.  This is accomplished one of two ways.  Students who intend to bring AR-15 pattern rifles will use their personal rifles during the course.  We will supply Blank Firing Adapters (BFAs) for each AR-15 platform rifle.  Students must ensure that their AR-15 pattern rifles utilize a bird cage flash suppressor to ensure compatibility with BFAs. Students who intend to train with Kalashnikov platform rifles will also use their personal rifles during courses.  We will supply BFAs for the basic thread diameter for standard Romanian AKM pattern rifle.  If students are unsure whether their threaded barrel is compatible with our BFAs, please contact Alert Plan Training Systems via email.  At this time, we are only able to facilitate blank rounds and BFAs for either AR-15 or AKM pattern rifles chambered in either 5.56 or 7.62x39.

How physically demanding is the training?

Please read each course description and evaluate your level of fitness before attending training.  Patrolling can be physically demanding at times and requires students to transition between standing, kneeling, and prone positions.  Running with your rifle and kit over uneven terrain will happen.  We work hard to not create a situation so strenuous that students cannot learn and process the skills we teach, but there is no way to take all physicality out of the training without detracting from the experience of other students.

Can I take Rural Defensive Patrolling (Advanced) or Rural Defensive Patrolling (Night Vision) without taking the basic course?

No.  Although we recognize that you may have tactically sound experience or trained with another reputable instructor, we require each student to take our basic courses before taking our more advanced courses.  We have a deliberate, stairstep training methodology that works best if all students are learning the same Tactics, Techniques, & Procedures (TTPs) at the same time and in the same manner.
